Not the vacuum!

Avery has started this thing where he thinks he is going to get his way by threatening me.  Like, if you don't let me do this then I am going to do this.  It never works, of course, and he usually gets in trouble for it.  Where this attitude is coming from is beyond me.  We watch Nick Jr and I am pretty sure they don't teach that on Yo Gabba Gabba.  Anyway, the other night he was upset with me for telling him no about something.  Probably eating ice cream before bed.  He said, "Oh yeah if you don't let me then I am going to take your vacuum cleaner."  Really?  Oh, PLEASE not my vacuum cleaner.  Anything but THAT!  He probably would have gotten in trouble if he would have said my computer or my cell phone.  My vacuum?  I'll let that one slide.

Then

I met my husband at church.  It was summer 2004 and it was VBS week.  I had just started attending this church regularly and he was a member there.  Technically, though, I had known him since Kindergarten.  We had the same teacher.  We had the same teacher in first grade, too (there is a story about this for another blog post). We went to the same middle school and the same high school.  I never talked to him.  He was one of those people that I could pick out of a crowd...but don't ask me anything about him.  I could tell you his name was Robert and that was it.  So, we talked some at bible school and on the last night he asked me out to lunch.  I said yes and we decided to go after church that following Sunday.  When I came home from our date, I remember telling my dad, "I had fun but it's not like I am going to marry him or anything."  We were soon inseparable and I did not think I could love him any more than I did then.

Our wedding was October 14, 2006.  We were young and didn't have any clue what in the world we were doing.  All we knew was that we loved each other so very much...and that was all that mattered.  We rented a little place and started our life together.  I didn't think I could love him any more than I did then.

I got pregnant two weeks after our wedding. Our son was born a month early on July 5, 2007.  It was scary and exciting all at the same time.  He looked just like me and I was head over heels in love with him.  Seeing my husband hold our son for the very first time melted my heart.  I didn't think I could love him any more than I did then.

Our church, which we are now both members of, set Robert aside to be a deacon.  He will be following in the footsteps of several family members at that very church.  The church where we met.  Where we were both saved.  The day they announced it and it was voted on, I was so very proud of him.  Standing in front of everyone with our son beside us and our little girl in my belly, I didn't think I could love him any more than I did then.

Now, with two children and a home of our own, we have stresses and headaches.  On one stressful day last week, my husband sent me a text.  He had found a picture in one of this old work bags of the two of us when we were dating.  My hair looked awful and his shirt looked just as bad.  We both got a laugh out of it.  I asked him, "What in the world did you see in me?"  His response?  "I  don't know, I just knew I loved you."  The next day, I heard a song on the radio.

Don't you just love the little signs He sends when we really need a reminder that He is in control?

"We've come so far since that day...and I thought I loved you then."

This is not about Casey Anthony...

While the rest of the world has been focused on the media circus that was the Casey Anthony trial, I have been celebrating the arrival of this little sweetheart...

Ansley Loren arrived June 8, 2011 at 8:48 pm. She was 5 lbs 12 oz and 19 in long. Her birth did not make national news. Nancy Grace did not put in her two cents. There were reporters there, though, spreading the word to everyone they knew. The paparazzi were also camped out waiting to get the first shot. She was welcomed with smiled and tears from her mommy and daddy. While you may not have heard about it, this was BIG news in our family.

I started having contractions the afternoon of the 8th. After calling the doctor I decided they may just be Braxton Hicks. I took a warm shower to see if that would help. It did not. Then, my blood pressure shot up. My head was killing me and my vision was blurry. So, it was off to the hospital we went. I was there for only 10 or 15 minutes and they came in to tell me we were doing a c-section. It happened really fast! Even though she was a month early, she was healthy and crying away! I cried when I heard her. They told me she had hair and I cried harder. Her big brother was very excited to see her. He kept saying, "Isn't she beautiful?" I am just head over heels in love with my little family. God is so good!

She is now 5 weeks old and weighs 7 lbs 9 oz. She eats good, obviously! It is still so strange to us that we have a girl. We have been all BOY for the past 4 years. Dresses and bows are still new to us! She has two bow holders and they are both full. Hey, this is the South, ya know. We like big bows around here!

While my day is pretty full with two little ones, I will still update my blog as often as possible. There are lots of exciting things coming up that I want to share! Right now, though, I have a sweet little girl and boy that I must get ready for bed. Hope you have a blessed day!

Bed rest and pee jugs...

So, I have been MIA for a while. My OB has put me on complete bed rest. Which is totally possible with a 3 year old, let me tell you. I have recruited all the help I can get...which equals my mother. She has done countless loads of laundry and washed our dirty dishes. Even though we have a dishwasher. Anyway, I am so thankful for her!
One of the glorious perks of monitoring your BP during pregnancy is the 24 hr urine test...which I now do weekly. You get this big orange jug and this teeny little cup to collect your pee in. How fun does that sound? My son is totally grossed out by the fact that it must be kept in the refrigerator. He says "that's insgusting." Which I am pretty sure is the same thing as disgusting. Maybe worse. My husband probably thinks this is horrible, also. He just has not voiced his opinion. He knows better. So, it sits on the bottom shelf on our refrigerator door...next to the month old punch left over from my baby shower. I am so glad no one has come over to visit.
So, that is the exciting life I lead at the moment. Bed rest and pee jugs. Ah, pregnancy. :)

33 weeks and 2 days...

Today, I am 33 weeks and 2 days pregnant. Yes, that two days totally matters. It is at this point in the pregnancy where you start counting every day, hour, minute, SECOND until your due date. This is also the point where people start to look at you like you have been beaten with a very large stick. Like, "oh, you poor thing." Then, you have those that actually TELL you how miserable you look. Yeah, cause miserable was totally the look I was going for when I got dressed this morning. That or pitiful. I was aiming for either. Plus, the lack of affordable maternity fashion does not help one bit. Do you really think I want to pay $50 for a shirt that, no matter how cute, still makes me look like a hot air balloon? No. Because, I don't plan to wear this shirt for a long time. Hopefully,I will go back to looking a lot less like a balloon after delivery. Can I also just say that maternity swim suits should just be against the law? Seriously? Who ACTUALLY looks good in these things? Unless you are a Victoria's Secret model who looks like they just had a large lunch. Or, just actually ate lunch for that matter. Average women who shop the maternity section at your local Target shouldn't bother trying them on. Really, just save yourself the stress. Pass it up. If you have to take one summer off, just do it. Or, just wear a t-shirt. It's just not a good situation. Not at all.

I really should stop complaining, I know. I do realize that there are some people out there who would love to be pregnant. This is a great blessing and I am very thankful. One day I will look back and miss this. Miss feeling all the bumps and kicks. Just not the cankles. :)

So much has happened...

So, I got caught up in life. Hey, it happens.  Lots of things have happened since my last post.  So, I will list some. You'll find I like to list random things.  On to the randomness...

-I am 32 weeks pregnant (tomorrow).  My legs stay swollen...full on cankle mode.  What fun that is.  My blood pressure is all sorts of crazy and I am now on BP meds.  That is also a blast, let me tell you.  Thought you were tired before from all the crazy things your pregnant body goes through?  Throw in some BP meds.  Then, you will need 20 naps a day.  Only, you can't take them because you have a 3 year old son.  So, you must stay moving and keep yourself busy...even though you are supposed to be on bed rest.  I delivered Avery at 36 weeks because of the BP issues.  Praying this pregnancy at least makes it to 36 weeks.

-I was promoted to a Certified Scentsy Consultant.  This makes me very happy.  Want to help me reach my next goal? http://sarabdavis.scentsy.us  Thanks in advance! :)

-We are making some progress in the potty training battle.  Number 1 is mastered...working on number 2.  I hope that girls are much easier to train than boys.  This has given me multiple gray hairs, I am sure of it.  Only, I will never see them because I am going to dye my hair forever.

-We are all moved into our house.  Now, we are finally enjoying it...and cleaning it multiple times a day.  It is ours, though, so I guess that makes it okay.  We had a house warming party with a little bonfire to celebrate.  Robert built Avery a fort.  Complete with a pirate ship wheel and a telescope.  It also has a slide and two swings.  I would post pictures but I haven't taken any, yet.  They will come later.

-My mom and sister threw a shower for Ansley.  I got lots of great things.  Her room is pretty much ready.  A couple more things I want to do before she gets here.  I guess I probably need to get on top of that.  She has a bow collection started on her super cute little bow holder.  I just pray she has hair.  I didn't have much hair until I was like 3.  Hopefully she takes after her daddy...but, just the hair.  And maybe the eye lashes.

-My son totally just said, "what the donkey?"  So, I am going to end with that.  Goodnight, all.

Wow...

Ansley's bed
I am blogging from my phone because we are officially in our new house...and I officially don't have internet. Yay.  I also do not have cable so we have been watching movies.  The Grinch is starting to get a little old.  I am sure I will regret saying this, but I may actually miss Good Luck Charlie.  That is a little easier to tolerate than The Grinch....on repeat.  We throw Dennis The Menace in there every now and then.  Ya know, because that's MUCH better.  Add to that fact that I am six months prego and I have been fighting cardboard boxes for a month...well, we are just having a big ol' time at our house!  I keep telling myself, "one day you wll look back and laugh." Or cry.  The most important part is that I will look back...and I can't wait to do that.  Because, well, I'm pregnant...and my feet are swollen.  That is all.

What do cats eat?

Avery: Do cats like vegetables?
Me: No, I don't think cats eat vegetables.
Avery: Do they just eat cat food?
Me: For the most part, yes.
Avery: Do they eat fish?
Me: Yes, I think cats like fish.
Avery: Probably catfish.

I just love him! :)

Tired

I think that pretty much sums up how we all feel around here today.  We got a lot accomplished but we still have a long way to go.  I am going to have a TON of things for a garage sale.  How we fit all of that stuff into a townhouse is beyond me.  I am so over boxes.  Every time I think I am getting close to unpacking them all, someone brings me more.  They are never-ending! We finished everything upstairs as far as upgrades/repairs.  We are going to move everything in and then start on our downstairs.  I don't even want to think about that right now!  Hopefully I will have pictures soon.  Now, it's time for sleep.

The Spiffiest Giant in Town

Avery just adores books.  He has SO many that he loves to read so I thought I would start sharing some of our favorites with you.

This is one that he got in the mail from the Imagination Library.  It is called 'The Spiffiest Giant in Town.'  This is a story about a scruffy giant named George.  George is tired of being the scruffiest giant in town so he finds a new shop and buys himself some spiffy new clothes.  He meets several animals who need his help and he slowly gives away all of his new things.  In the end, he is back to his scruffy old clothes.  George learns it is much more important to be kind to others than it is to be spiffy!

Avery just loves this book.  We have read it so much that he can actually "read" right along with me.  Very cute book with a great message.  Can't wait to check out some of the other books from Julia Donaldson!  Happy reading! :)

No one gave me anything for telling you about this book.  Just something we like that I wanted to share.

Totally random Thursday

It's Thursday and that means I several random things I think you should know.

-Command strips are officially one of the best inventions EVER!  I am horrible at hanging pictures and I always end up putting like 50 holes in the wall trying to get them straight.  Not with these things!  I am sure I am "way behind the times" but I am so glad I discovered them.  It's amazing what you will find while you are waiting (very patiently) for your husband at Lowe's...for the hundredth time.

Halloween 2010
-Avery is in love with Peter Pan.  Well, not actually in love with THE Peter Pan, but the story.  We have watched every Peter Pan related movie, read the books...he is "hooked."  Sorry, couldn't resist.  :)  I think it is because of all the pirates.  One of the many costumes he wears is his pirate costume from Halloween.  Now, though, he says he is Captain Hook of the Jolly Roger.  Too cute.  The theme for his birthday party this year will be pirates.  I have already started buying all things pirate...and his birthday isn't until July.

-While shopping with my mother the other day, I came across a super cute bunny purse for Easter.  I picked it up and said, "Oh look how cute! Maddy would like this!" Avery's face turned 15 shades of red and said, "You. Are. Embarrassing. Me."  This is coming from my son who's head wear of choice for a trip to the hardware store is a Viking helmet (as seen on Hiccup from 'How To Train Your Dragon).  Or, Spongebob PJ's and snow boots for a trip to Food City.  I don't think a blue bunny purse it that embarrassing.

-We finally got all of our things out of storage...only to find over half of it needs to be sold in a garage sale.  I ordered a bigger kitchen table and will be on the hunt for two dressers tomorrow.  Avery's room is FULL of boxes and I think there may be two that are not toys or books.  Spoiled much?  I blame it on the grandparents. :)

- I almost have 26 weeks knocked out.  Only 14 more to go.  Carrying a girl is so much different than carrying a boy.  I always heard people talk about the differences but never fully understood it until now.  I feel HUGE already.  My blood pressure issues caused Avery to be very small.  He was only 4 lbs 12 oz when he was born.  I found his preemie clothes today while unpacking boxes.  They were big on him!  So, having a normal birth weight baby will be strange for me.  I am just SO thankful my blood pressure is behaving this time.  I just want her to be healthy!

- Robert put Ansley's bed together today and it looks so good in her room!  After all of my AMAZING family left tonight, Avery called me into her room.  He said, "Mommy, I just wanted to tell you this looks really cute."  I just love him.  Though I am sure it will be an adjustment, I know he will be a great big brother.

Hope everyone had a blessed day!

I guess I'll just throw a rock at it...

My son and my nephew, Matthew, were talking this afternoon about killing a deer.  Where they came up with the idea that they wanted to kill one is beyond me.  No one in my family is a hunter.  This is not the first time they have had this idea.  They planned it out one afternoon in the car.  Here is how the conversation went:

Matthew: when I get big I am going to kill a deer.
Avery: do you have a knife?
Matthew: no.
Avery: a gun?
...Matthew: no.
Avery: how will you kill it then?
Matthew: I guess I'll just throw a rock at it.
There you have it.  Problem solved.

Scentsy!

I signed up to sell Scentsy because I LOVE their products!  I use them every day.  I won't clutter my blog advertising Scentsy, but I will share now and again.

This is the warmer of the month of April.  It is called Baby's Breath.  I can't wait to get this!  I think this would be a great Mother's Day gift.  It is just perfect for Spring!

The April scent of the month is called Flutter.  Here is the description:
Drift to sleep as the subtle perfume of a moonlit spring
garden flutters through an open window. Delicate orange
blossoms and whipped almond cream float above a bed
of bright lemon verbena, creating a dreamy fragrance,
like a sweetheart’s whisper in the night.

I am very excited to move in our new home and use all of my Scentsy products!  You can shop my site at http://sarabdavis.scentsy.us/ and have you items shipped directly to you.  I encourage you to check out all the great new things for Spring! :)

Our house...

Here are a few pictures of what we have been working on in our very first home!  These were taken with my cell phone so excuse the quality.  I will post better pictures when we are moved in.  :)

Ansley's room

Our dining area. Excuse my son with no pants (see previous post).

Avery's room. The bottom color is called Guacamole...which is also one of his favorite things to eat.

We did not notice this until after we moved in. Our last name already on our door knocker! Apparently, this was the last name of the people who built the home and no one has changed it since.  It was meant for us to be is very last owners! So awesome!

I can't wait to get everything moved in and start decorating!

Who needs a dog...

Robert and I thought (briefly) about getting Avery a puppy to grow up with in our new house.  The thought left me quickly today as I cleaned up pee from inside my son's bedroom closet.  Not from a dog...from my son.  What is up with boys and potty training?  I never dreamed it would be THIS hard!  Everyone has given me tons of great advice.  So far, though, nothing has worked with my stubborn little guy.  He wore big boy underwear all day today and did great this morning about using the potty.  We had to take a trip to Lowe's and he had no accidents while we were gone.  Even when he had a MELTDOWN over Spongebob gardening gloves.  But, that's a different story.  Then, we come home and he pees in the closet.  I am seriously thinking about putting ALL of his toys away and only allowing him to get one when he uses the potty.  I just do not know what else to try.  Moving into a new house would be the perfect time to get a couple of boxes and put everything away.  Letting him pick out one when he does good and taking one away when he has an accident.  Maybe that will discourage him from hiding somewhere and going in the floor.  *sigh* Just say a little prayer for us...or I fear I'll be packing Huggies for his first day of school.

Ah, Spring...

So, Spring does not officially start until tomorrow.  Today, though, was the perfect Spring day!  We spent the day playing while Robert and my dad worked inside.  I guess I can say this is now Spray-N-Wash season.  Anyone with children will understand.  Grass, juice, dirt...Spray-N-Wash is a must.  I have a little guy that sure knows how to play...hard.  He fell and scraped his knee this afternoon and we did not have any band-aids.  So, he got a "man-aid" as his daddy calls it.  A paper towel and some duct tape.  It worked and he kept right on playing until we could get a proper band-aid.  A little redneck, I realize, but you do what you have to do.  Just remind me to never let his daddy baby-sit.  Hope everyone had a great day.  Happy Spring!

Totally random Thursday

This post is not about ONE thing in particular.  It is about several things...and they are random.

This is not our fish, but it looks just like it.  Credit.

-We have our first official family pet.  His name is Lewbert and he is a betta.  We went in for a simple bowl and a 99 cent goldfish.  The "fish lady" told me that my idea just would not work because my goldfish would be unhappy.  I would need at least a 10 gallon tank.  How could I live knowing I had a depressed goldfish?   What kind of person would that make me?  So, we went with a betta, a plastic bowl that cost $1.20 on clearance (rocks included), a plastic plant and some fish food.  The fish lady approved.  Go figure.  Who knew goldfish were so stuck up?

-I went for a check-up with my OB on Tuesday.  I refused to let the nurse tell me how much I weigh.  They HAVE to weigh you right before they check your blood pressure.  I am trying to keep my pressure down, people!  That's just too much stress to throw at me right before you check it.  So, we are going to skip that part.  The doctor told me my weight was fine.  I am content with that.  Fine is good.

-Our house is coming along great.  We (and by we I mean my husband and my father) have almost all the painting completed.  I went shopping at Hobby Lobby for some cute home decor items.  I discovered a clearance section with 90% off items. 90% off you guys!  I pretty much lost myself and bought a ton of stuff.  Everything was totally necessary, though.  A platter with a chicken on it for $1.60? To put fried chicken on?  Who could pass that up?  Not me, I tell you, not me.

-The weather is getting warmer and I am super excited about that.  I have a little boy that loves to stay outside.  Staying outside means burning off a TON of energy.  Which equals not having a fight on my hands when it is time to go to sleep.  Ah, I love Spring.

-The Bradford Pears are in full bloom in the neighborhood.  Does anyone else think they kinda smell like cat pee?  Maybe its just me.  But, I am totally stocking up on the Claritin.

I will leave you with this super sweet picture of my niece, Maddy.  Love her.

That's Important To Me

I am loving this song at the moment and I think it sums me up quite well.  So, for my first post I am going to share this video with you.  It is Joey and Rory and the song is called 'That's Important To Me'.  Enjoy!
